Theater

  • The pseudonym of the Irish dramatist and writer George William Russell (1867 - 1935). He originally intended to use the pen name 'Aeon', a word to which he attributed great mystical significance, but settled on the shorterform when a newspaper accidentally printed it this way. Russell's considerable and varied output includes several volumes of poetry and the play Deirdre (1902). He also helped to found Dublin's Abbey Theatre.
