• A company of Italian actors founded in about 1590 to performworks of the commedia dell'arte. By 1600 they had come underthe leadership of Pier Maria Cecchini. Leading actors with the companyincluded the renowned Harlequin Tristano Martinelli, Flamineo Scala,and Silvio Fiorillo (who joined in 1621). In 1608 the company gavea series of performances in France, finding much acclaim at the FrenchCourt. The Accesi eventually joined forces with Francesco Andreini'sfamily troupe, which also toured France. However, the two companiesseparated after the wives of Cecchini and Andreini began to quarrel,and Cecchini retained the Accesi name.
