  • In an AC circuit, the rate at which work is performed or energy is transferred, measured in watts. It is the product of the voltage portion of the signal being measured, multiplied by the current that is in phase with that voltage. It is also equal to the difference between the apparent power and the reactive power. Also called actual power (1), real power, or true power.
