  • A variety of the seawater fish pollack, Theragra chalcogramma, found in the northwest Pacific. It is of the cod family, weighs around 1 kg and has an olive green to brown upper skin. The lean white flesh may be cooked in any way, but is usually salted and dried or pickled. The roe is also salted for the Japanese market.
