Alpha Centauri



  • The brightest star in the constellation Centaurus. It consists of three stars, including the faint Proxima Centauri, the nearest star to the Earth after the Sun, and a slightly more distant double star including the G2 type star which accounts for most of the light we receive from the system. The total magnitude of the system is 0.01 and its distance is about 4.3 light years.
