arty-farty

Definition

Slang

  • adjective pretentious, affected, more decorative than useful. A more vulgar parallel of the innocuous ‘arty-crafty’, which is Edwardian in origin and was usually applied to the pseudo-rustic, as in the Arts and Crafts design movement of the late 19th century.
