  • (ASM) A member of the production team who assists the stagemanager in meeting the needs of the director and cast. The dutiescan be handled by one person, but large productions will have threeassistant stage managers. The various jobs include being responsiblefor prompting and making sure that the actors' moves coincide withthe director's decisions, placing props and furniture on stage, callingactors to the stage for cues or entrances, and controlling backstagelights and those on stage during scene changes, etc.
