The plot concerns a newlywed couple, Corrie and PaulBratter, who move into a rented apartment on 48th Street in New York.The five flights of stairs defeat most visitors, including Corrie'smother, but the couple settle in happily with the eccentric residents.Soon, however, the quarrelling begins: Corrie calls her husband astuffed shirt because he will not walk barefoot in the park in freezingweather. Despite a disastrous evening at an Albanian restaurant withCorrie's mother, the couple draw back together and rekindle theirlove.
