- In a land-mobile system, a land station that maintains communications with land-mobile stations. A base station may also communicate with other base stations.
- In a land-mobile system, a fixed-location station which communicates with mobile stations.
- A site which has the necessary transmission and reception equipment to provide cellular phone coverage in a given geographical area. All incoming and outgoing calls within this zone are handled by this station. The area served by a given base station is called a cell (6). Also called cell site.
