  • A type of broad comedy that depends upon chaotic and compromisingsituations featuring loss of clothing, mistaken identities, and doubleentendre. The Whitehall farces, many of which featured BrianRix, are amongst the best-known British examples of the genre; someof the Aldwych farces of Ben Travers also come into the category.

    Bedroom Farce is also the title of a two-act comedy byAlan Ayckbourn, first performed in 1977 at the National Theatre.The play concerns three married couples and takes place in their bedrooms,shown simultaneously on stage with the action switching rapidly fromone to another.
