  • A theater founded in Coventry in 1958 - the first newBritish theater to be opened after World War II. It was named in recognitionof a gift of timber from Belgrade, Yugoslavia, that was used in itsconstruction. The Belgrade was the first of Britain's civic theaters.Its resident company presented a triannual staging of the CoventryCycle of mystery plays until 1990.
