  • noun the formation of an undesired thin surface film or a milky white haze or mist on paintwork, which can occur when paint is applied during humid, cold conditions and is caused by moisture being trapped in the wet film

  • In a CRT, a form of distortion occurring when the scanning spot is enlarged. When this happens, the edges of an image seem to exceed their boundaries, resulting in a reduction of focus. This may be caused, for instance, by setting the brightness or contrast control too high. On a radar screen it occurs as the signal intensity increases.
