  • A medium-sized (up to 3 kg), oily seawater fish, Pomatomus saltarix, with a grey to greenish blue upper skin with firm, white flesh found in the warmer waters of the Atlantic and in the Mediterranean. It leaves the deep water for the coast during summer and is sometimes fished for sport. It can be poached, baked or grilled.
