bogart

Definition

Slang

  • verb to monopolise or fail to pass on a joint or cigarette during communal smoking. This popular hippy term of the late 1960s was prompted by the actor Humphrey Bogart’s habit in films of keeping a cigarette in his mouth for long periods. The verb originated in the USA and quickly spread to other English-speaking areas.
