  • a wide-ranging appellation that covers all the wines produced in the Burgundy region of France. There are a number of different requirements within this appellation: red Bourgogne rouge wine must be made from Pinot Noir, but Beaujolais, also from the Burgundy region, is made from Gamay grapes; white Bourgogne Blanc is usually made from the Chardonnay grape.
