  • An international agreement which established exchange rates between foreign currencies, allowed central banks to intervene, and set the price for gold. Currencies were priced relative to gold prices, until 1971 when the Agreement was overturned in favor of a floating exchange rate. Also called Bretton Woods Accord of 1944.
