  • a large appellation in the Rhône valley in southern France that is second only to the Bordeaux AOC in the quantity of wine it produces within France. Most of the wine produced is red or rosé using mainly the Grenache grape variety. The Côtes du Rhône-Villages AOC produces higher-quality red wines with a slightly higher level of alcohol than those from the bigger Côtes du Rhône AOC.
