- Abbreviation of compact disc-extra. A CD format which contains both audio and data, separated into two sessions. The first session contains up to 98 audio tracks, while the second session has one data track. Such discs may be played in audio CD players or a computer CD drive. An audio CD player will ignore the second session, while a computer CD drive can read both sessions. Also called CD-plus, enhanced CD, or enhanced CD-ROM.
