  • In India, a simple improvised drama about mythological figuresthat is acted by the fishermen of the eastern state of Orissa. Theevening entertainment, which includes humorous episodes, takes placein the spring under a full moon. All the roles are performed by threeactors; the rauta who is the main singer and comments on thestories, the rautami, a female impersonator who also singsand dances, and a performer who dances as a horse. They are accompaniedby two musicians playing the drums and cymbals.
