Chaldean astronomy

Definition

Astronomy

  • The astronomy of ancient Babylon, now remembered especially for its accurate calendars and planetary observations. Although their universe was a flat Earth in an outer sea, enclosed by a solid outer layer which sometimes leaked, yielding rain, the Babylonians’ observations were astoundingly accurate and supported an astronomy which was an exact, predictive science.
