  • A vegetable of the onion family, Allium tuberosum, like a very large chive. Sold in three forms, dark green leaves, blanched leaves known as yellow chives and the round fairly stiff flowering stem with a pointed flower bud at the tip known as flowering chive. The taste varies from mild to strong according to the variety.
