(written as Clean Float)
A situation in which the exchange rate of a currency is being set by supply and demand only, rather than by fiscal policy actions by governments. This situation, also called a pure exchange rate, is the opposite of a dirty float, which occurs when government actions influence the exchange rate of a currency in opposition to supply and demand in order to achieve economic or political goals.
