  • A physical location within the facilities of a telecommunications company, which interconnects the equipment of a customer or competitor. This has benefits such as reducing the cost of operations, or being able to provide superior service. Used, for instance, by telephone companies or Internet providers. Also called colocation center, colocation facility, colocation site, or physical colocation.
  • The interconnection of the equipment of a customer or competitor to the facilities of a telecommunications company, without such equipment being within a physical location of the latter. Also called virtual colocation.
