  • adjective used to describe data transfer that occurs between two devices that do not have a fixed or permanent link and so can take different routes between the two devices.

Electronics

  • A mode of communication in which a direct connection between two nodes is not necessary before transmission. Each packet contains the source and destination addresses, and is routed through the network until it reaches the specified destination. LANs are connectionless. This contrasts with connection-oriented.
