cumulative backup

Definition

Electronics

  • A data backup technique in which the only files copied are those that have been modified since the last backup, and in which all versions are saved, not just the last one, as is the case of a differential backup. This also contrasts with a full backup, in which all files are copied, including those that have not been modified since the previous backup. Also called incremental backup.
