Czochralski method

  • A technique used for cultivating large single crystals. Using this method, a seed crystal is dipped into a molten solution of the crystal, and is slowly withdrawn while being rotated. Used, for instance, to grow semiconductor crystals such as gallium arsenide. Also called Czochralski process, Czochralski technique, or liquid-encapsulated Czochralski.
