  • verb to remove (someone’s) trousers. The phrase originated among 19th-century university students but quickly spread to schoolboys for whom the ritual humiliation of fellow pupils by de-bagging was a popular diversion up to the late 1960s at least. Bags was a 19th-century slang term for trousers which survived until fairly recently.
