delayed automatic gain control
- An automatic gain control circuit which is activated only when the input signal exceeds a predetermined magnitude. This allows for maximum amplification of weaker signals. This contrasts with instantaneous automatic gain control, in which the circuit is activated immediately when the amplitude of the input signal changes. Also called delayed automatic volume control, biased automatic gain control, or quiet automatic volume control. Its abbreviation is DAGC, or delayed AGC.
