differential backup

Definition

Electronics

  • A data backup technique in which the only files copied are those that have been modified since the last backup. This contrasts with a full backup, in which all files are copied, including those that have not been modified since the previous backup. An incremental backup is similar to a differential backup, except that all versions are saved, not just the last one.
