disaster recovery plan
- The plan or procedures employed for recovering from a disaster, such as a fire. The key factors to consider are usually the recovery of data, and the re-establishment of the ability to operate. Such procedures usually include accessing backed-up data, and utilizing key hardware which has been previously earmarked. Also called disaster recovery.
- The measures taken to minimize the deleterious effects of a possible disaster. These include data backup to a remote site, and making the necessary arrangements for key hardware to be available during such an event. Also called contingency plan.
