  • verb to scorn, snub, belittle. This vogue word of the late 1980s entered adolescent speech via the hip hop and rap subcultures originating in the USA. A typical ‘clipping’, like def, treach, etc., it is based on the verbs to dismiss, disapprove or disrespect [sic] (perhaps influenced by dish).
