  • The prize awarded in an annual rowing race for Thames watermennow held in late July. The name comes from Thomas Dogget(c. 1670 - 1721), an actor of Drury Lane, who institutedthe race in 1715 to mark the accession of George I. The race, heldover about 4½ miles from the Swan Steps at London bridge to the Swan Inn at Chelsea, takes about 30 minutes. The coat is a redlivery jacket with a silver badge.
