Doherty amplifier

Definition

Electronics

  • A linear RF power amplifier incorporating two sections whose inputs and outputs are connected by quarter-wave networks. It is designed so that only one section operates for all input-signal voltages up to one-half maximum amplitude. Beyond this, the other section comes into operation, until maximum amplitude. In this manner, both sections function optimally, thus minimizing distortion at maximum input amplitude.
