Dolcetto

Definition

Wine

  • an early-ripening red wine grape variety widely grown in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy to produce a soft, fruity wine that is normally a deep purple colour and is intended to be drunk when young. Producers of slow-maturing wines such as those made from the Nebbiolo grape often also grow Dolcetto to get a quicker financial return.
