  • noun a unique name that identifies the location of an Internet server or computer on the Internet

Electronics

  • On the Internet, a name which identifies one or more IP addresses. For instance, in the following URL, http://www.yipeeee.com/whoo.html, the domain name is the www.yipeeee.com portion. Sometimes, only the yipeeee.com portion is considered to be the domain name. A domain name always ends in a domain (5). When a domain name is entered into the address field of a browser, it is converted into the appropriate IP address, after which the appropriate content is transferred to the computer that requested it. Also called domain name address, or Internet domain name.
