  • On the Internet, a name which identifies one or more IP addresses. For instance, in the following URL,, the domain name is the portion. Sometimes, only the portion is considered to be the domain name. A domain name always ends in a domain (5). When a domain name is entered into the address field of a browser, it is converted into the appropriate IP address, after which the appropriate content is transferred to the computer that requested it. Also called domain name address, or Internet domain name.
