  • A character in Buckingham's The Rehearsal (1671),a parody of Dryden's heroic drama Almanzor and Almahide(1670). Drawcansir's opening speech:
    He that dares drink, and for that drink dares die,
    And knowing this, dare yet drink on, am I.
    The Rehearsal (IV, i)

    sends up Almanzor's:

    He who dares love, and for that love must die,
    And, knowing this, dare yet love on, am I.
    Almanzor and Almahide (IV, iii)
