Construction

  • An event where voltage decreases to zero for at least five milliseconds.

Electronics

  • To lose or delete part of a transmitted signal, whether this occurs intentionally or not. Also called drop (1).
  • The erroneous loss of bits during a read/write operation.
  • A deterioration or loss of signal when a magnetic tape is dirty or has lost sections of its magnetic coating. In a video tape, for instance, this is manifested as streaks appearing on the screen during playback.
