  • A rectangular IC package in which the connecting pins are arranged in two parallel lines on opposite sides of the package. Such a package is usually made of plastic or ceramic, and its pins protrude downward from its longer sides. Used, for instance, for computer RAM, or for cache memory. Its acronym is DIP. Also spelled dual inline package.
