  • A galvanometer which measures current by utilizing a conducting thread or fiber which is stretched between the poles of a magnet or electromagnet. The thread or fiber is deflected proportionally to the current passing through it, and is viewed through a microscope. Also called Einthoven galvanometer, or string galvanometer.
