elastic recoil detection analysis

  • An ion-beam technique for the determination of light elements on the surface of a sample material. In it, the sample is irradiated with an ion beam consisting of particles which are heaver than the target atoms that wish to be analyzed. The lighter target atoms are then scattered forward and detected. It is especially effective in hydrogen analysis. Its abbreviation is ERDA. Also called elastic recoil detection.
