electrostatic voltmeter

Definition

Electronics

  • A voltmeter in which the voltage to be measured is applied between two plates, one fixed, the other movable and attached to a spring. The resulting electrostatic force displaces the moving plate to an extent which is proportional to the applied voltage, and an attached pointer serves to indicate the voltage on a calibrated scale.
