- The presence of an even number of ones or zeroes within a group of bits.
- An error-detection procedure which verifies if there is even parity (1). For each byte transmitted, an additional bit is added, which can be a 0 or 1, so that all bytes are even. At the receiving location, the parity is checked, to be sure it is even. If it is, the transmission has passed this test of data integrity. Also used for data storage. Also called even parity check.
