• The study of possible life in the universe other than on the Earth. Considering that it is a science with absolutely no data, exobiology is given a lot of thought by scientists, who have produced figures on the number of habitable planets (Drake Equation), speculations on the limits of our type of carbon-based biology and theories on alternative ways of organising life. There is also a less popular school of thought to the effect that the Earth is the only inhabited planet in the galaxy – otherwise the aliens would be here by now – a simple case of the fallacy of anthropomorphism.
