F Corona

Definition

Astronomy

  • Corona seen around the Sun during eclipses or with a coronagraph for a distance of several solar radii from the Sun. The F corona is large because it consists of light which has set out from the Sun’s photosphere and been scattered to the Earth by dust, which is distributed throughout the inner solar system, unlike the electrons which cause the K Corona and are found in high densities mainly near the Sun.
