Factorial Design

Definition

Health Economics

  • An experimental design when there are several determinants (independent variables or 'factors') of an outcome, each of which may interact with the others, and where each of the determinants can take on several discrete values ('levels'). Thus a 2 2 design (or 22) has two factors and two levels. A fractional factorial design economizes on the amount of statistical work required to generate results of a specified quality.
