  • Formerly, a sceneshifter who worked in the flies,i.e. the gallery over the proscenium from which the curtains, scenery,etc., were controlled. He was also known as the linesmanbecause he operated the 'lines' or ropes. The flyman's plot was thelist of all the articles required by the flyman in the play concerned.
