forcing shot



  • noun an attacking batting stroke played usually to a ball pitching rather short of a length and typically just outside off stump (or leg stump), in which the bat is swung downwards and forwards with great force, sending the ball into the area between cover and mid-off (or between mid-wicket and mid-on)
