Wine

  • a wine that has had extra alcohol added to prevent further fermentation and to increase the alcohol content. Dessert wines with high levels of alcohol such as port, Madeira and sweet sherry are fortified with brandy during fermentation to stop the fermentation process while there is still sugar in the wine to give it sweetness.
