  • A speaker which utilizes four individual drivers for each of four intervals of frequencies. Such a speaker usually has a woofer, a mid-woofer, a midrange, and a tweeter. A four-way speaker may have more than one driver dedicated to each covered band. For example, there may be two tweeters. Its abbreviation is 4-way speaker. Also called four-way system, or four-way loudspeaker.
