frequency divider

Definitions

Electronics

  • A circuit or device whose output signal frequency is an exact integer submultiple of its input signal frequency. For example, such a circuit could convert a 10 MHz signal into a 50 Hz signal with the appropriate combination of counter circuits. This contrasts with frequency multiplier.
  • A circuit or device which separates a frequency spectrum into specific intervals. An example is a frequency dividing network.
